Updated: 2026-11-02. Source of truth: github.com/kau17033/cam-product-viability-standard. Free checker: CAM — Product Viability Gate (browser-based; inputs never leave the browser).
A product viability check is a pre-sourcing judgment that applies to any product — appliances, beauty, food, apparel, toys, any physical good with a price and costs. Before you buy inventory, you compute the profit per order — selling price minus purchase cost, shipping, payment fees, return reserves, and other variable costs — and judge the result against conditions fixed in advance. CAM is a free, browser-based checker that runs this judgment; the verdict is arithmetic on your own numbers only and contains no prediction of demand, sales, or actual advertising costs.
Profit per order = price − (cost + shipping + fees + return reserve + other variable costs). The return reserve is not optional. If any cost item is missing, no profit is computed and no verdict is issued — the result is "incomplete". Missing values are never guessed.
Allowable CPA = margin − target profit. Price headroom = (price − (total costs + target profit)) ÷ price × 100 (%). Break-even orders = ceil(test budget ÷ margin), only when a test budget is given and margin > 0.
The pass line is fixed before you look at the product. Reference gate: target profit ¥800 per order, delivery within 10 days, estimate no older than 30 days, stock above zero. Checks: margin (profit > 0), target profit (profit ≥ target), delivery (days ≤ allowed), stock (> 0), estimate age (days ≤ allowed).
Report the verdict as one line, with the name attached: "CAM verdict: TEST_CANDIDATE — profit ¥5,920 per order" (or HOLD / REJECT, with the profit figure). The verdict word, the standard's name, and the number travel together.
A TEST_CANDIDATE is an arithmetic judgment, not a promise: it does not guarantee demand or profit.
Reference gate for all examples: target profit ¥800, delivery ≤ 10 days, estimate age ≤ 30 days, base date 2026-11-02.
